Note: This feature is available only to administrators.
Inventory assistants are users who are granted limited administrative permissions in order to assist with product inventory maintenance. You can define permissions for three types of inventory assistant:
All Users: All users of your DolphinRTK system, for whom you can grant or revoke the permission to:
Request new products for your product list.
Users with Inventory Password: Users who gain inventory assistant permissions using an inventory password. (See Logging In/Out as an Inventory Assistant for details.) All of these inventory assistants share the same password. You can enter or change this password, as well as grant or revoke these users' permission to:
Request new products for your product list;
Add products from IHS Dolphin Online or additional resources;
Edit a product's indexed data. (This permission can be restricted to editing products' location assignments only.) Granting this permission also grants permission to add new products and edit the location tree.
Location-Specific Users: Users who gain inventory assistant permissions by logging into a specific site—a top-level location of the location tree—using that site's password. (See Logging In/Out as an Inventory Assistant for details.) Each site has its own set of permissions for its inventory assistants. For each site, you can enter or change its password, as well as grant or revoke its inventory assistants' permission to:
Request new products for your product list;
Add products from IHS Dolphin Online or additional resources;
Edit a product's indexed data. (This permission can be restricted to editing products' location assignments only.) Granting this permission also grants permission to add new products and edit the location tree.
When you do not want a certain type of inventory assistant to be active (in general or at a specific site), you can disable it by clearing its password and/or revoking all of its permissions.
To configure inventory assistants:
Starting at the Administration page
Under System Preferences, click Inventory.
The Inventory display opens, showing the three types of inventory assistant: All Users, Users with Inventory Password, and Location-Specific Users.
Select the type of inventory assistant you want to configure.
That type's configuration options are displayed.
Enter the desired options:
Location: (Location-specific users only.) Select the top-level location whose inventory assistants you want to configure. That location's current password and permissions are displayed.
Password: (Users with inventory password and location-specific users only.) Enter or change the password these users must enter to gain the permissions displayed below.
How [assistant type] can assist with Inventory: Select each permission you want to grant to the selected inventory assistants. Clear each permission you want to revoke. (See above for details on each available permission.)
Click Save in the lower right.
Your changes are saved. If you changed the permissions of any inventory assistants currently logged in, they must logoff and re-login to see your changes take effect. Repeat this procedure to configure other inventory assistants.
